What I Had Fixed On His 7th Birthday

We usually do either one of these two things when there is a birthday occasion in this household and that is to go out and eat or me fixing Filipino dishes. My oldest son celebrated his 7th birthday a week ago and I decided to stay home and cook few of our favorite Filipino dishes. It was actually a little surprise celebration for him because I already told him a week before his birthday that he won't be having a cake or going anywhere to celebrate his birthday. To my surprise, he told me that it is okay as long as he's got some presents to open! LOL! Last year on his 6th birthday, we brought him to Chuck E Cheese, it was one of our birthday surprises for him. He loved it there and he sure had the fun of his life!

Anyhow, what I had fixed on his 7th birthday were just 3 Filipino dishes and those are bam-i or pancit-bihon, escabeche and sweet and sour meatballs and of course rice! It wasn't much but it was enough for all of us. My friend and mother-in-law got to take some foods home with them and still had some leftovers for us.

Anyway, my son was indeed surprised when he came home from school and he was even more surprised when we started singing him a happy birthday and me holding his birthday cake. He was surprised but didn't care really much about anything else except for the two things that he has been wanting to have that he finally got on his birthday and those were the "Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon" game for his Nintendo 3ds and Nintendo e-shop gift card. Those were all it took for his birthday to be completed and he was a happy camper!
