Where Will You Spend Your Summer?

I've been loving the weather that the Spring season has brought except for the last few days where we had so much rain that it actually washed out our driveway once again. Yesterday we had to park to my mother-in-law's driveway because our car couldn't drive up on our driveway, it kept spinning because all of that mud! Today however seems like another gorgeous day, thank God for that. The sun is shining brightly outside, hopefully our driveway will dry up fast so my husband can fix the mess and park the car back where it should be!

Anyway, speaking of the weather, it is actually starting to get hotter. Right now, our inside temperature is almost 80ยบ, not sure what is the temperature outside but I bet it is warm. It is actually starting to feel like summer. There's no denying about it, summer is fast approaching and I am pretty sure it is gonna be as hot as last year. So where will you spend your summer this time? As for me, if it's even possible for us to do it, I would really love to go to the beach! It has been such a long time since the last time I was at the beach, 4 years to be exact! If only there is a way I can convince my husband to go but there is just no way due to our financial situation and of course the credit card bills are piling up! It seems like it never goes down, it's because we tend to spend more than what we have. We really need to stop doing it or we're really gonna be broke, will end up spending all of our savings and credit card bills are still in existence! Wouldn't be that great?

Anyhow, to those of you who can very well afford to have a nice tropical vacation, if you are looking for a property to stay in, you can try looking for the perfect vacation home at Bahamas real estate for sale. I think it is better and cheaper to buy your own property rather than renting, for the next time you want to come, you wouldn't have to worry about where to stay. You want to go on a vacation because you want to relax and unwind and the last thing you want to worry about is to get stress from trying to find a place to stay!

Homemade Crispy Pata

(Sorry for the low quality picture, I used my IPod to take it!)

I fixed this Crispy Pata over a week ago. I buy pig's feet every once in a while and I either make Crispy Pata out of it or soup. Usually I deep fry it but a week ago I decided to just put it in the even for 400 degrees which I won't be doing again. I mean it was still good but didn't turn out the way I like it. It taste so much better when it is deep fried but the only thing I hate about doing it that way is, the grease splatters all over the place!

But anyway, even though it was tough as rock it was still yummy, my mother-in-law even enjoyed it. She's very picky and always hesitant to try my food for fear that she might be eating something that she thinks that are not supposed to be eaten! She told me that she grew up eating pig's feet and that's why she didn't mind trying the crispy pata out!

Recycling A Cereal Cup

I can always think of something to make out of things that are throw away just like the cereal cup above. I buy this kind of cereal because it is a lot easier to give it to my first grader for his breakfast in the morning. I've been saving the cups because I know I would figure something of what to make and this morning, I finally thought of something and that is a cute little organizer or a holder.

Anyway, below is the step by step of how I made this. It was very easy, it only took me less than 10 minutes to finish it. You can do anything you want to cover the front and make it look cute or fashionable, just the way you want it!
========================================================================
My choice of materials to cover the outside are leftover cardstocks and zebra-print duct tape..I never throw away my cut-up cardstocks because I know I will have a use of it one day, just like earlier! ;)

=======================================================================
 Next, I just cut the papers into strips and glued it onto the container just like in the picture below...(I used Elmer's glue). I decided to glue the papers longways instead of crossways because it is so much easier to glue it on the cup since the cup in not straight. You just have to do more cuttings which is better than having a crooked and wrinkled paper once its glued to the cup...

 ...as you can see I alternated the papers...

======================================================================
After I had glued all the papers onto the container, I used the duct tape as trimmings to cover the edges. The duct tape also serves as restraint, so the papers won't peel back!

======================================================================

And you can use the finish product as a cosmetic holder, or pen or pencil holder or whatever it is that's laying around on your desk or table that needs to be organized!

8th Year Anniversary Is Coming Up In Less Than 2 Weeks

Yup! My husband and I will be celebrating our 8th year anniversary in less than 2 weeks! It also marks the very first day to set foot on this land of opportunity and it's kinda hard for me to believe that it has been that long! I am just so thankful for every good and bad things that I've come across for it took me to where I am now or should I say, where me and my family are now! In those 8 years, my husband and I were blessed with two beautiful sons and I couldn't ask for more! They're the two best things that ever happened to my life and I will be forever grateful for them!

Anyhow, me and my husband already bought an anniversary gift for both of us. We decided to be more practical since it is such a tough times for everybody these days including us. Instead of getting individual gifts for each other, we agreed to buy a new grill as our 8th year anniversary gift to each other. It is smarter that we did it this way because if you think about it, if we had bought individual gifts for each other and we still had to buy a new grill because the grill that we had was really in bad shape and seriously needed to be replaced, do you see my point of how much money would we have wasted? Killing two birds with one stone so to speak!

Anyway, I told my husband, maybe next year if we can save enough money, maybe we can do something different for our anniversary. Like go to other state that I never been to like Florida and see something different. I've always wanted to go there especially in Miami area. I heard that the weather is so much like in the Philippines and I want to experience it myself.

He mentioned that it would be an expensive trip but I told him that we can make it a lot cheaper like instead of staying at a hotel, we can find a motel in miami instead. Motels are much cheaper than hotels I think and I am not hard to please at all. As long as I have a roof over my head, I am good to go! Well, he told me that we will have to see what will our financial situation that time! We still have about a year to go, hopefully by that time we will be able save enough to go!

Cub Scout DIY Space Derby

My oldest son came home last Monday from his Cub Scout meeting with this DIY Space Derby Kit. He told us that they have to paint and assemble it and bring it back next meeting so they can fly it and I think he mentioned something about having a competition which one flies better.

So anyway, we started working on it last night. My son was cooperative at first, then got sidetracked on something else and as usual I ended up painting the whole thing which I didn't mind at all for I had fun doing it! After I painted it using an acrylic paints, we had to let it dry overnight before I can finish assembling it. Earlier this afternoon, I finally got it finished and my son is really excited about flying it tomorrow.

Here is what it looks below. It's not the prettiest plane but my son is happy with it and that's all that matters! It was actually not hard to assemble it, the instruction was kinda confusing at first but I finally figured it out. There are some parts that's in the instruction but not included in the kit but I'm so glad to get it finished for my son...

The body of the plane after painted with acrylic paint...

...and the finish product! It looks kinda weird that the fins are too small for the body! LOL! I am hoping this will fly good tomorrow!

A Nice Wall Covering Will Do

My mother-in-law and I went to Sam's Club the other day to get some dog foods for her dogs. We always go there for that because it is a lot cheaper compared to the other stores. Anyhow, she saw this utility storage building at the store and she showed it to me. It looks very small outside but when you go in, there's actually an ample of room inside and very first thing that popped into my head was my own CRAFT ROOM!

It will be just a perfect little craft room for me, big enough to fit my sewing and cricut machines, my painting and craft supplies. And I also thought of putting shelves in there for my shoes and purses! Oh gosh, I was already imagining all the nice things I can do or put in it! For a storage building, well I guess it's not really that much at a price tag of $450+. I mean that is still a lot of money but looking at the other storage buildings, its the cheapest one that I've seen so far!

I'm thinking seriously to ask my husband to buy it for me for mother's day and my birthday which is gonna be in less than 3 months! Oh it would be nice if I can have it! I am already looking for Wall coverings that I can use to cover the walls inside. I don't want to look at a dark and boring walls. I want to put a light color, perhaps a floral prints or anything that's light and bright so it would look and feel much bigger than it is. Well, first thing to do before continuing all these plans is to ask my husband first if he could get it for me! Wish me luck and crossing my fingers here!

Sign Of Life!

I am just so thrilled that I waited a while before I pulled out the new rose that I planted about a month ago. It appeared to be dead after it had snowed on twice but thankfully I decided not to pull it yet because I was hoping that there was still life left in it and it will start sprouting back.

And sure enough, the other day I checked it while I was outside, and noticed the new growths on it. I am just really happy about this! I just love the color of this rose and it really upset me that I thought I wouldn't see it bloom! Well now it's back and I'm really looking forward see its bloom in summer! I can't wait!

It's That Time Of The Year Again

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts Miracle-Gro. All opinions are 100% mine.

I guess it's that time of the year again! Everybody in the neighborhood have already started mowing their yards and it looks really nice and neat. Ours on the other hand, well, let's just say needs a serious grooming! Ugh! I really hate doing yardwork except for gardening! I did start planting flowering plants in the yard and my husband started planting vegetables as well.

Anyway, I have a very good news for Florida residents! Did you know that Scotts has a new kind of mulch that they named Scotts Florida Select Natural Eucalyptus Mulch? It is only available in Florida because it is made from 100% Florida-grown Eucalyptus. It is a sustainable gardening mulch because it is considered a renewable resource for it re-grows up to 4-times faster than Cypress. Plus it prevents weeds naturally while helping to conserve soil moisture and moderate soil temperature. This is very easy to use as well, so why don't we get the gardening supplies and start shall we? You will probably just need some gardening gloves, and  rake to spread the mulch out.

How to Use
Spread 3 inches deep. Keep mulch several inches from tree trunks and house foundations or other wood structures. Apply around trees, shrubs, flowers or vegetables after seeds have germinated and plants have developed. Avoid using before seeds have germinated, around underdeveloped plants, and within several inches of house foundations or other wood surfaces. A 2 cu. ft. bag will cover a depth of 2 inches, 12 sq. ft of bedding area. At a depth of 3 inches, 8 sq. ft. of bedding area. At a depth of 4 inches, 6 sq. ft. of bedding.

For non-Florida residents, I mentioned that the Eucalyptus mulch is only available in Florida but there is something similar that you can use for your landscaping and that is the Scotts Nature Scapes mulch! It even comes in 3 different colors shown below..

Anyhow, I have a few pictures attached below of some of the new plants that I planted. My existing garden is still in bad shape because of the dogs has been laying in it. It really needs mulching bad and I  guess this is the perfect time to try out some of these mulches above!
