FoodTripFriday #4: Porterhouse Steak...

One of my favorite American foods is a medium-rare steak! The meal in the picture above is what we had for dinner the other night. It's porterhouse steak, tossed salad and Hawaiian roll. It was scrumptious I tell you. If you notice, the Porterhouse steak looks a lot like a T-bone steak it's because they both come from the short loin of the cow but cut differently. The Porterhouse is cut from the end of the short loin and at least 1-1/4 inches across while the T-bone is from the center of the loin and is at least 1/2 inch across.

In my opinion, Porterhouse steak is more tender compare to the T-bone steak and I think much cheaper. We don't eat steak often, probably twice or thrice a month and if we do, I always make sure it's on sale because they are extremely expensive when they're not! Sometimes I really get to crave steak and just want to go to a steakhouse to satisfy my craving which what we do sometimes! The best steak that I ever had in a restaurant was at Chili's Rib-eye steak. Got to go back there soon!!! I'm drooling just thinking about it!

That Was Quick!

I had a little surprise this noon before I even woke up. Hubby looked outside to see if the mail had already come. He spotted a big box hanging on our mailbox and he thought it was his. So he went down there to get it and when he came back he handed me the box and said it was mine and from VS. And I thought what??? That was quick. It supposed to be here on April 3!

I ordered from VS last week when they had 7/$26 undies plus 2 secret reward cards. I took advantage of it because they don't have that kind of promotion often. So now I have 3 secret reward cards total, if they're at least $10 each, I'll have $30 more to spend on VS online! WOOOOHHOOOO! I couldn't be happier! I got more hiphugger undies from them too, I love their hiphuggers, plus more lotions to send in the Philippines for my family!

Gardening Time!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts®. All opinions are 100% mine.

EnG Product Shot.png
It's about that time of the year again, gardening time! Spring started over a week ago but I haven't done anything in my garden. It needs some serious work! When I got pregnant for the second time last year, I just neglected it and let it go. Now I'm gonna have to do some serious work to get it looking decent again. I love gardening so much, that's one of the things that keeps me occupy here but what I don't like about summer is to have to keep mowing and weeding and I am the one who has to do it. Ughhh I really hate it!

Anyway, some of my plants really needs some TLC for they are not doing really well. It might be because of the dirt they are planted in, not so rich soil. The Miracle-Gro Expand ‘n Gro™ concentrated planting mix might just help them get better and looking healthy again since it has all natural fibers that can hold up to 50% more water than basic potting soil. I heard it can work like a charm as it expands up to 3 times when mixed with water and it feeds plants for up to 6 months and it can significantly improves soil for multiple years. I really need to try out this Miracle-Gro® Expand ‘n Gro™ concentrated planting mix so that my garden can get luscious and beautiful once again! Advertisement

You can check out the Miracle-Gro® Expand ‘n Gro™ concentrated planting mix and maybe try it for yourself by receiving a free sample size. You can leave a comment on this post and might just get one. You can also watch the video below to see how easy it is to use this product!

Mellow Yellow Monday #4: "Star Performer"

Everytime I look at this award certificate that my son received at school it always puts a smile on my face. I may sound very shallow to other people but I don't really care what they think! Not everybody gets an award at school and it makes me prouder of my son thinking that he is one of the chosen ones! This is just the beginning of his achievement, I'm sure he will have some more hopefully and I'll be behind him all the time supporting him all the way wether he gets an award or not! That's what parents are for!

FoodTripFriday #3: Easy Fix Dinner!

The picture above is what we had for supper tonight, London Broil and asparagus. We usually have 2 sides but I only cooked one tonight because there was plenty of asparagus. Anyhow, for those of you who are meat lovers, I am sharing this London Broil recipe that has been one of my favorite meat to cook for supper. Not only it taste yummy but also very easy to fix! My mother-in-law is the one who introduced us this recipe, she saw this recipe on one of Food Network's shows "30 Minute Meal". This is a cheap alternative for steak. Below are the step by steps on how to make it...

You will need:
London Broil Meat
Worcestershire Sauce
Garlic Salt

What to do:
Turn the oven to broil position. Poke meat with fork and sprinkle with garlic salt on both sides (you may want to sprinkle meat tenderizer as well to make sure the meat is really tender). Next, brush Worcestershire sauce on both sides of the meat (I usually just pour the sauce on the meat and rub it on it). Put the meat in a shallow pan, put in the oven, cook for 6 minutes or longer each on both sides (I cook mine about 10 minutes to ensure it will be medium rare). Once cooked on both sides take out from the oven and slice thinly across the grain, serve with your preferred sides!

Now isn't that easy? There's also another way I cook mine sometimes. Earlier, before I cooked mine, I let the meat set with the sauce and garlic salt on it for about 3 hours, that way, there's a plenty of time for the sauce and garlic salt to soak into the meat and give it more flavor. I will advice you to eat the whole meat once it's cooked for it taste much better when it's freshly cooked otherwise if the meat is too big for you and your family, you can cut it in half and save the other half for later!

One of the Proudest Days...

...of my life was last Friday when an award ceremony took place in a school gym. One of the awardees was my kindergarten son who received an All Star award in their class. What a wonderful feeling that was watching my son walking towards his teacher to accept his award certificate. I was one very proud mama that day! I am so thankful whoever had the brilliant mind to invent the camera for I got to record my son's first big achievement in his 5 years of existence by taking photos, something to remember and look back one day for wonderful memories!

Mellow Yellow Monday #3: Forsythea's Forsythia!

One of the bushes that I have in my garden are forsythias. I love the bright yellow blooms these bushes produces every spring! I love it so much that I decided to use it's name as one of my nicknames online but instead of spelling it with "i", I changed it to "e" so it would look more like a name. Everybody that I interacted online asked me where I got my name because they said it's very unique and of course I told them the truth from the plant "forsythia".

Anyway, for this week's Mellow Yellow Monday, I am sharing my forsythia bush that's blooming right now. I took some pictures the other day but didn't really like the result, so today I went outside again to take some more pictures and very satisfied of how the pictures turned out. These pictures came straight out of my camera, not edited nor enhanced. The only thing I did was cropped them so it won't take me eternity to upload them. See them below and please enjoy!

Food Trip Friday #2: Jicama (Singkamas) and Avocada!

Jicama (Singkamas) and avocado are just two of the fruits that I really enjoy eating. I had these fruits a week ago for lunch. No I'm not on a diet, it just what my mouth wanted to eat. Anyway, me and hubby loves to eat avocado, we would be so glad to eat it everyday if we could but they can be very expensive at times. At our local grocery store they costs 2 for $5.00 whereas at Walmart they're only 98 cents each. But we don't go to Walmart often, it's a little farther away from where we live. The Jicama is also sold at our local grocery store but I did not really notice if they're prices are much higher compared to Walmart. Jicama is one of the fruits that I am accustomed to eating when I was still in the Philippines. I love eating it with salt, that's how we eat it over there. I love the fact that this one of the fruits that you can easily find here in US!

My sis

My sister and I recently bought a house in the thought of trying to fix it up into a rental home. It’s close to my house and kind of far away from hers so it ended up I’m going out there more often than she does to meet contractors and all that, a bit of a pain. Hopefully when it’s all said and done though we can get a couple grand a month from the place which will pay off the mortgage quickly and really start earning us some cash. I love my sister but she’s no good at things like looking into Security Systems San Bernardino or talking to the real estate agent or dealing with contractors – all that stuff has fallen on me. She is much better than I am at decorating and picking out the finishes for the house, though, so in that way she’s really pulling her weight in a way I didn’t even know she would. I’m grateful she’s involved and that we’re doing this as a team!

Award Ceremony...

I couldn't wait for tomorrow to come. We will be going to my son's school to witness his achievement in his kindergarten year. He will be receiving an All Star Award tomorrow at their school gym, the ceremony starts at 8:30 in the morning. We are all excited and very proud of him. My mother-in-law was calling everybody she knows to tell them about it which I thought was so funny!

Anyway I will be taking my camera so I can take a bunch of pictures for keepsake. Tomorrow will be the best time to use my dslr. I bought the dslr mainly so I can take some best quality pictures as possible when it comes to an event like this. This kind of event only comes once in a while, I wanna make sure I get it perfectly hopefully! I will be posting the pictures here because I am so proud of my son!

So Proud Of Him!

Today, me and hubby went to my son's school to pick up his 3rd grading report card. We talked to his assistant teacher for a few minutes and she was telling us how smart our boy is. That compliment just made my day! And on top of that, a note that is attached to his report card saying that he is getting an "All Star Award". She explained to us what it is, it is an equivalent to honor roll since Kindergartens don't have one. I can't put it in words how proud I am of him for being so good in school! I am already proud of him before but I am prouder now! The award ceremony will take place in their school gym this coming Friday. We are gonna be there to witness the special event and of course to take a lot of pictures for keepsakes!

Anyhow, by being such a good boy in school, I wanna do something special for him maybe on his upcoming birthday in less than 2 months. Yes, he'll be turning 6 years old soon, I feel so old already! LOL! Anyway, we usually just celebrate his birthdays at our house and invites a couple of friends. But I am thinking to change the venue this year to Chuck E Cheese's. He's never been to that place before and he'd seen it on TV and been wanting to go there. That would be a great reward for him for being good. I know for sure that he would love that place because I've been there before and I loved it, it was so much fun. So many things to do in there. I would definitely would love to go back! I usually just call our friends that we invite to his birthday but I think this time I'll be sending out maybe a personalized birthday invitations to make it more special! He deserves more than this but this is the best we can do for now especially with our economy not getting any better. I am sure my soon-to-be big boy will love this little gesture!

Mellow Yellow #2: Spring has Sprung!

I guess spring came early this year. Evidence of it are springs bulbs are blooming everywhere even the trees are budding. Half of my springs bulbs blooming already like my Hyacinths and Daffodils. I guess I won't be seeing them again until next year. My tulips are sprouting as well...

Anyway, picture above is obviously of a Daffodil that I picked out from my garden yesterday to put in the vase. I just hate to let the flowers died from the frost because we still get really cold here in the morning. So might as well take advantage of it while it's still blooming. Not only it gives beautiful color inside the house but also it's freshness!

1st FoodTripFriday Entry: Filipino Pork Adobo..

For my first entry for Food Trip Friday I chose to share this Filipino pork adobo that I made over a month ago. I don't cook Filipino food often, probably about twice or thrice a month. So far, my hubby has been so enthusiastic of all the Filipino that I made which I am thrilled about! On the other hand, my son is not so, the only Filipino foods he really likes are white rice and dried fish, other dishes that I made he didn't really like! But I did remember he kinda like this pork adobo. Maybe it's about time to make this again...

Cute Tops!

Sometimes Walmart has the cutest tops you can find like these in the picture above. I have been looking for some animal print tops for a quite a while now but don't want to pay over 10 bucks for it. Thankfully I waited because I spotted these cute tops at Walmart yesterday and paid less than 15 bucks for them. I actually bought the 3 tank tops yesterday, I did not get the zebra print shirt because it only comes in medium size and I thought it would be too big for me. So today we went back to Walmart to pick up the bunk bed that my mother-in-law ordered for my son.

Anyway, I saw the zebra-print shirt and decided to look again to see if size small is available yet but it wasn't. I really liked the shirt and finally decided to just get it even if it's medium. So when I came home I tried it on, to my surprise it didn't look too big at all, in fact it's just perfect fit for me. The other 3 I tried on yesterday and they were perfect too! I don't know which sizes are, I am so glad I bought those tops and I can't wait to wear them the next time we go out which is tomorrow! I just got to decide which one I should wear first!

My New Found Love!'s not what you think! Hehe...I'm talking about Victoria's Secret bras here. Last week was my first time to buy bras from them because they were having this promotion where you get a free VS Getaway bag when you purchase $75 dollars or more, so they were having a sale on bras for 2 for 49 bucks. I wasn't really interested on their bras before because they are just too expensive for me even on sales. But last week I thought why not, I wanted to reach the $75 mark right away!

Anyway, my orders came the other night but I was too busy taking care of my youngest son I did not have time to open the package until later than night. When I finally got to open it, I just looked to see if everything was there, didn't even try out the bras until this morning. When I saw the bras the other night I thought they were too big! But when I tried them on I was very surprised how the bras snugged to my breast perfectly! I just fell inlove with them right there. Very high qualities, very comfortable, it's definitely worth it's price! I guess I'm gonna have to save more money to buy more bras from them!

My VS order has arrived!

Finally, my VS stuff that I ordered last week has arrived. Although I am excited about it being here I haven't had the chance to open it yet. The UPS came late and I was taking a nap in the couch with my youngest son when he came. I just did not have the energy to get up and get it from the porch where he left it. After I woke up and rested, my son is constantly needing my attention and couldn't get away from him. He is now taking his nap, which I hope will be for a while coz I really need a break from holding him. He just wanna be held all the time, my arms are sore! Anyway, I'm taking advantage of this time that he's asleep to open my package. So ciao for now!

Spongebob Crazy!

Hello guys, I just joined Mellow Yellow Monday about hours ago. So for my first entry I chose "Spongebob Squarepants", one of my 5 year-old son's favorite characters! We have so much Spongebob stuff laying around the house. He's been so crazy about spongebob since he was just a little baby. I don't know if it has something to do with me watching it everyday when I was pregnant with him. I watched too much spongebob while I was preggy with him that I dreamed that when my baby was born, he was so cute but had a square head. That dream scared me so bad that I stopped watching spongebob the next day for I feared my baby will have square head! LOL! Fortunately he turned out to be a very beautiful baby and now a handsome young man! Anyway, here are some of the spongebob stuff that my son owned...
Starting from the top picture from the left: My 5-year old son hugging on his Spongebob stuffed toy that my mother-in-law bought him in the Philippines when we were there in 2009. Another shot of my son in his Spongebob pajama, then Spongebob VHS tape and DVD's. Bottom pics starting from the left :Spongebob books, activity kit and stickers, Spongebob Valentines card kits and Spongebob chocolates, Spongebob wallet, Spongebob Lego, puzzles, cup, umbrella and his Spongebob backpack! Dang, so much Spongebob isn't it? LOL!

Gone But Not Forgotten...

It really saddens me when I think of my older brother is not with us anymore. He passed away almost 3 years ago, September 22, 2009 was the date. His birthday is tomorrow and he would have been 30 years old! The pain still very fresh that it feels like someone is squeezing my heart! Although me and him weren't close growing up, still, the pain is unbearable sometimes. I couldn't imagine how my mama feels right now, losing a child at very young age. I feel so bad for my mama. If only I am there beside so I could comfort her. I know it has been almost 3 years but I heard that once you lost a child you never get over it.

I still feel somewhat guilty because right before the incident, me and him were talking on the phone and were arguing. We hung up the phone still very mad at each other. And then hours later, a call from the Philippines woke me up from my nap and they told me the bad news. I can still remember that time, it's like a bomb blew up on my face...I just couldn't believe it and I thought they were playing terrible joke on me!

Anyway, I guess this is enough for now, I am really getting emotional here...I am hoping and praying that wherever he is, I hope he'll forgive me for what I've said to him. I never got to tell him that I loved him as my brother although we weren't getting along most of the time when we were growing up. I can remember some  of the good memories we had. The jokes and the laughters we shared together and I would never forget that he tried to be a good big brother and I appreciate him for it!
