Wrong House!

I am just freaking mad right now! All day I have been looking forward to receive my package which is a flat screen monitor so I can replace my old bulky one and the dang FedEx delivered it to the wrong house. I don't know if that's even possible to make mistakes like that. I called the customer service about it and she read me my address that's listed on their system and it was the right address, so how come the driver made a mistake? Oh gosh, I just hope they can retrieve that package and deliver it to the rightful owner as soon as possible or whoever got it is honest enough to return it to FedEx at least!

What a day!

Since 9 o'clock this morning, I have been working my butt off! From cleaning the entire house to mowing the freaking yard! I am just exhausted right now, but at the same time glad that it's all done. Well, not completely done, I have to do some weeding at our yard and over at my in-law! Just thinking about it makes me wanna pass out. I am just so glad that I had all that energy to do all those chores today, coz there are days that all I can do is lay down on the couch and nap all day long. It's good that I'm really tired, that means I'll have a good night sleep tonight. So night, night all, I think I'm hitting the hay after this post!

He's officially a school boy!

My son is officially enrolled in the Kindergarten! We enrolled him earlier, although, there are still some things that we need to do to complete the enrollment. He has to get his shots, physical exams and school screening, but he was the 69th student that was enrolled today. He's very excited about going to school which is really good and so am I! I hope I taught him enough not to worry about the screening and can go in the more advance class. That would be a bonus! LOL! I'm not expecting anything like that, I am just glad that he will be going to school soon. I'm excited for him to play and communicate with other kids as well as learn to develop his social skills. I don't sound excited am I? LOL!

Anyway, one thing for sure, when he starts going to school, I would miss him so much. School starts at 8am to 3pm, so that's almost a whole day! I'm sure it would be hard in the beginning, but we'll eventually get use to it. Besides, the second one is coming to keep me and my husband company. So everything will work out just fine!

What a big success it was!

I mentioned on my other blog that we were having our 3rd Annual Rummage and Bake sale at our church Saturday. It was a big success! Although it was very exhausting but it was all worth it! We made over a thousand dollars just by selling gently used items and baked goods that some of the parishioners at our church had donated. It feels really good knowing that I was part of that big success. The Rummage and Bake Sale was hosted by the Women's Guild at our church (me including of course).

We started this guild 3 years ago, and so far, all of our fund-raising activities has been successful! We use the money to help in our church, as well as the people that are in need! The Rummage and Baked Sale is one of the biggest money maker every year as well as the Spaghetti dinner which we will be hosting this coming September. I hope it would be a successful one like last year. I'm really looking forward to it!

Potato Harvest!

freshly picked!

The best part of having your own vegetable garden is when they're ready to be harvested! The potatoes in the picture above were harvested from our garden just 10 minutes ago. They're not much, but enough for one meal as a side dish to feed a family of three, and the best part is, they're FREE! Tomorrow for dinner, we will have them as a side dish, we like to steam our potatoes for they taste much, much better!

white potatoes after they have been washed...!

We also planted some more seeds in our square foot gardening. The ones that are already planted in there are really doing good, can't wait to harvest them. Hopefully we'll have plenty of vegetables to harvest this year. I'm so looking forward to taste every one of them!

Allergy Medicines!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

It is very important in this household to have an allergy medicine in hand since my husband is an allergy sufferer! When spring and summer time comes, that's when his allergy hits the fan! There are so many allergy medicines that you can choose from different stores. But the question is, which one works best? My husband probably tried most of these allergy medicines out there, both store brand and name brands, but there's only one that works best for him and that's the AdvertisementWal-dryl from Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products. I have not tried this medicine personally because I haven't yet to develop any allergies, but once I get an allergy, my husband will highly recommend this allergy medicine for me to take, he's one of those people that will stick to something like glue when they work really good! Besides that, this particular medicine is much cheaper, why would you pay high price for a name brand products if they have the same active ingredients and only pay fraction of the price?! That just doesn't make any sense, in this downfall of economy we are experiencing right now, it is so important to get things as cheaply as possible but with the confidence that it will work as great as the name brand products!

Did you also know that every purchase of  Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Product supports bringing preventive wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™, as well as contributing up to $3 million annually to the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™.
The Walgreens Way to Well Fund™ will provide free preventive health tests as well as other health and wellness services and education to local communities. Some of those services will include preventive health tests through the National Urban League Health & Wellness Tour and vouchers redeemable in select stores. For details, visit

This guest post from Doris Dillon

My parents live out by themselves in California and it’s hard not to worry about them since I’m all the way out here on the east coast. I’ve done everything I can to make sure they’re safe including looking into a security system at but in general, I rely on that daily phone call to make me feel good that they’re okay. My dad’s still working and they’re both really spry, but I always worry that one of them will fall or something will happen to the house. Thank goodness for email…it’s nice to be able to send them pictures or catch up that way when they don’t feel like talking on the phone! Neither of them have any big health problems and I know they’ve got tons of friends keeping an eye on them, it’s just hard not to worry. I’ve always been an only child so it’s impossible not to feel responsible for their well being. Mom and dad are close to my heart and I will always go out of my way to make sure they’re safe!

Bad business planning!

I have been selling used items on E-bay for about a year now. It's not a full time job, this is only one of my sidelines to have an extra income coming while staying at home. It also helps to get rid off some unused items that we don't use anymore in this household.

Anyway, like I said I've been selling for about a year now but I still don't have any good strategy as to how to get more money out of it. I keep losing money on the shipping! Just like this week, I sold a slow cooker, the buyer is from Alaska, it would cost $25+ to ship the dang thing and I only charged $15.00 for the shipping, that means I'm gonna have to cover $10+ out of my own pocket and because of that I'm not making any profits, instead, I'm losing money! This is definitely not a good business planning. I need to start weighing the items that I'm selling like my husband suggested long time ago, instead of just guessing it!

Well, this really thought me a very valuable lesson! I contacted the buyer, told him about the dilemma, I explained why I made the mistake and I'm trying to give him an option as to how to proceed, but he hasn't replied to my email. If he won't reply at all by Monday, there will be nothing I can do about it but to just let it go, lose money and do my best not to make the same mistake again!

It feels good!

Although me and my husband are jobless and stays home 24/7, I can still make a little money from home. Thanks to my blogging and selling used items online. Even though it's not much, it's helping a little bit. My hubby had to retire 15 years ago due to a work related accident. We are relying on his disability money to get us through our daily expenses. It's barely enough for a family of three, it will be 4 soon!
This month, I managed to deposit $150 in our account by blogging and selling online. I know that's not much but, that's 150 that we did not have in our bank account. That's at least a week's worth of grocery for us! If only I could get more task so I can earn some more. Every little penny really counts on these days of bad downfall of economy. And I always hope to sell more items online coz it really helps a lot too!

The picture above is of what we call in the Philippines Kamunggay or Malunggay! I don't know what the English term for it, but it is big part of our culinary there in the Philippines especially the poor family like us. This plant is very abundant there, we use it over there to make soups, we also use it for medicinal purposes and this is one of the things that I miss so much of my native land.

Anyhow, I have some Malunggay seeds that I got straight from the Philippines about 4 years ago and I just now thought of trying to plant some of it. I started out 6 seeds a week ago and all of them sprouted! After 4 long years, they are still good because my hubby put them in the freezer! I am so glad that they are doing so well, I can't wait for these plants to grow big so I can start making some utan bisaya (don't know how to say it in English).

I planted them in a container, the reason I did that is because I know this plant would not survive during winter times and I can easily take them inside the house when that time comes and then I will have them all year round! I'm keeping 3 plants for myself and planning on giving 3 to my friend, I'm sure she'll be thrilled to have a Malunggay plants of her own!

I also started some water spinach at the same time I started the Malunggay but they haven't sprouted yet. I hope they will soon! And yesterday I planted a sweet potato tops that I bought at the store the other day. I can't wait for them to grow! Those are 3 of my favorite leafy vegetables when I was still in the Philippines! It would be nice to have some of them every once in a while if they'll just give me enough leaves to harvest! I really hope they will! I could taste them already!

Nasty Thunderstorms!

Last night, we had a very bad thunderstorm! Although I like the sound of thunder and rain at night time, it makes me fall asleep fast, I just do not like the aftermath of it, especially when I have to go outside, I don't like dealing with mud! Plus, some of my plants were ruined from it!

It looks like we're gonna have another one tonight, we do need the rain. It has been really, really hot these past few weeks. It helps to cool down the temperature a bit, so I'm not gonna complain about it, because, it does help us a bit, it waters our garden for free and we don't have to do the work!

Layouts Changed!

I finally had my layouts changed on this blog and my other one. I mentioned a week or two ago that I needed to change my layouts since the ones that I was using before weren't loading right! I started looking up for new layouts last night, it didn't took me long to pick the ones that suited my taste. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, but I thought the layouts that I picked out were pretty nice, they are just simple but I like it a lot.

I did not do a lot of work changing layouts this time unlike before. It probably just took me about 45 minutes to change both of them. It was really easy to arrange the widgets. I'm glad that's out of the way! It really bothers me when something is not working right, now I don't have to worry about it!
Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and great weekend ahead!

Satisfying my cravings!

What a lucky break for me! For about a week now, I have been wanting to go to Walmart to check if they have the seasonal mangoes out yet. I'm not talking about the ones that's green and reddish color on it that you can find at the grocery stores all year. I do not like that kind! I like the seasonal ones that you can only find during summer time, because they taste just like the mangoes that we have in the Philippines!

Lucky for me, the whole family went to Sam's club today, I didn't even think about finding it there. But there it was in a 5 lb box for 6 something dollars. I immediately grabbed a box to take home with me. I am just so thrilled about it, I immediately ate one when we came home, I paired it with shrimp paste or what we call in the Philippines hipon! Oh gosh it was divine! I have plenty to last me a while maybe a week or two. And another good thing is, I am the only that would eat them! LOL!

Facebook account deactivated!

I just deactivated my facebook account 5 minutes ago. This is not permanent, it's only temporary. I will reactivate it whenever I have everything more important in order! Facebook is just really getting so boring these past weeks for me. It's one way of communicating with my family back in the Philippines, but they are too busy with their jobs right now, I haven't chat or talk to them in a while. If I call over there, nobody answers their phone, if I text them, nobody replies, so what's the point? I'll just focus my attention to more important things rather than just sitting my butt off and looking at other people's life. But I will miss my family and friends on facebook, I'm sure! Like I said, it's just temporary, I resume it when the right time comes!

Relaxation time!

It would have taken me all day to clean up this house, but I did not clean our bedroom, I'll just have to finish it tomorrow coz I am just so exhausted right now! I only managed to clean up our living room, kitchen, my son's bedroom and his bathroom and I'm about to pass out! Little chores like this really exhaust me so easily nowadays! I think I deserve some relaxation time after all that work. I might just take me a nap.

It is so hot outside right now, it is now 91 degrees, air conditioner is on inside but it seems like it's not cooling in here. It's still 86 degrees inside the house. We seriously need a new air conditioner, this one that we are currently using right now is about 15 years old, so you can imagine why it's not cooling right! It's just waste of electricity, but it will just do for now until we can save up some money to buy a new one. It will cool down eventually.

Anyway, I'm getting off here and try to relax and possibly take me a nap before supper time comes. I hope you all have wonderful Monday!

Fruit Salad (Filipino Style)

The picture above is of a Fruit Salad (Filipino-style) that I made the other day. I did not make if because I was craving for one, but because I took it to church for a friend's funeral yesterday. Although I did save some for me to eat sometime. This is really big in the Philippines when I was growing up, but I wasn't so crazy about fruit salad then, what I am crazy about is the Macaroni Salad that my mom used to make! It's very seldom that she makes fruit salad for us to eat, for the fact that we were so poor and she couldn't afford to buy all the ingredients to make it. But, she used to get hired by our neighbors to cook for them when there's a special occasion, my mama is a really good cook! When she comes home after cooking all day, the people that hired her made sure that she'll bring some food, sometimes that includes Macaroni Salad and I just love how it tasted! Oh how I miss my mama's cooking, there are so many times I wished for her to be here with me. Maybe one day, I'll be able to bring her here, if God allows it! If there's a will, there's a way and everything is possible, right?

100th post!

This is my 100th post on this blog! What's the big deal about it? Nothing really! I just wanted to post something on here but I couldn't think of anything interesting. Nothing much happening lately except for the fact that it is excruciating hot these past few days! Yesterday the temperature reached up to 92 degrees and today's temperature will be the exact replica of yesterday! If it's already this hot and it's not even summer yet, what should we expect by summer time?? I am glad it will be summer soon but I am not looking forward to the painful hot weather! It would be nice if we can go to a cooler place this year like the beach or water park! We didn't go anywhere last year, money is really scarce lately and I doubt it if we can go anywhere this year since I'm planning on getting my driver's license, we all know how expensive car insurance is especially to an inexperienced driver like me. I really hope I'll be able to get it!

Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial day! A Salute to every man and woman in uniforms who sacrificed their lives for the safety of this country and to those who are still fighting! We thank you wholeheartedly!
